A 19th-Century residence nestled amid lush green surroundings

And a journey back in time that is guaranteed to make an impression as you explore a period in our history where nature played a key role. Just two hours outside of Paris, the Hauts de Loire is the perfect place for a unique getaway at a former French family residence refurbished to provide a modern standard of comfort, on an estate that has been preserved in a way that allows the unspoilt natural surroundings to truly flourish.

Loire Valley

One of France’s most beautiful regions is preparing to welcome you with open arms… The Loire Valley, commonly referred to as ‘the garden of France’ is the ultimate land of the kings. The jewels in France’s heritage crown are the over 3,000 châteaux built or heavily modified here during the Renaissance period (15th and 16th Centuries) and showcasing the architectural styles typical of the key centuries in the country’s history, their sheer splendour earning the Loire Valley its place on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The region is also renowned for its vineyards, spanning over 70,000 hectares, and the great diversity of the soil types to be found here, resulting in the production of a variety of wines in large quantities, including Bourgueil, Chinon and Vouvray, each bringing their own unique characteristics to the most demanding of tables.

The Hauts de Loire - a first-class hotel

There is nowhere that would allow visitors to appreciate all of the distinctive features of a French family residence as well as this former hunting lodge built in the 19th Century.

Set amid some 70 hectares of grounds, complete with lakes that are used as watering holes by mallards and swans and an old stone house, this property that was formerly known as the Château du Pavillon has become a hub of good living where guests come to enjoy the very best in catering and hospitality.

The property has passed through the hands of various passionate owners over the years, each protecting the integrity of the château and making it a common source of pride for the town of Veuzain.

A high-end lifestyle in homely surroundings

Unbelievable! We are just two hours from Paris, surrounded by châteaux representing the most beautiful periods in France’s history and providing the perfect opportunity to kick back, relax and enjoy a great short break with that special someone, as a family or with friends.

Everything about this calm and relaxing property has been designed to ensure that guests never get bored; whether you’re taking a stroll through the woods, relaxing by one of the lakes or the pool, partaking in a game of tennis, enjoying a refreshing dip in the pool, being pampered in the Spa by Clarins or even enjoying a game of boules with friends before ending up at the open-air café close to the Kid’s Club, there is plenty here to ensure that everyone finds the perfect way to enjoy the delights of the Loire at their own pace.

An open-air gallery

All of the owners that the Hauts de Loire has had over the years have had a certain enthusiasm for artistic expression, from painting in the portrait age to today’s contemporary pieces showcasing the best that nature has to offer, and this has had a positive effect on its grounds. Over time, the estate has become an extraordinary platform for such expression and regularly hosts exhibitions of works by contemporary artists.

Nowadays, guests arriving at the château are immediately greeted by Pierre Yermia’s monumental piece entitled Le Grand Cerf des Hauts de Loire (‘The Great Deer of the Hauts de Loire’) – a prime example of the property’s ability to incorporate art into its natural surroundings. The grounds themselves are, in fact, something of a living exhibition, peppered with works that are showcased here for a season at a time.
